Obtaining a Thai Temporary License: Debunking Misconceptions and My Personal Experience

​You can obtain a temporary two-year Thai license even if you only have a tourist visa. Some individuals, such as agents or expats, may try to persuade you that this is not accurate.

Personally, I utilized the services of J & E Concierge based in Pattaya. I highly recommend taking a short trip to Pattaya while you're in Thailand and utilizing the services of this agent. They have connections and can take you to a land transportation office located about two hours away from Pattaya. They informed me that I couldn't obtain a motorcycle license since my US license explicitly stated that it was not valid for motorcycles. Despite this, I paid $173 and obtained both a car and a motorcycle license for Thailand. So, if you encounter anyone who claims that your car license cannot be converted, my suggestion is to proceed with the process regardless. In my case, since it was a conversion, I didn't have to take a written test.
