How to Access Restricted Websites Abroad Using Proton VPN

To get started with Proton VPN, visit Proton Mail and create your email address. Once you’ve set up your account, download the Windows version and log in.

For mobile users, simply go to the Play Store, download Proton VPN, and log in with your new email and password. When setting your location, choose the USA. Note that the VPN may require a few attempts to connect to the USA, but once it does, it will remain set there as long as you don’t turn it off.

If you’re living overseas, many websites may not function properly. This is especially true for services like Social Security and Veteran Affairs, which can be inaccessible from certain countries. A simple workaround is to use the Google VPN Chrome extension. Add it to your Chrome toolbar and activate it when needed. If you encounter issues with free extensions, simply remove and re-add them to restore functionality.
Recently, I faced a critical situation during a Zoom meeting with a government agency while in Thailand, receiving an error message that I was not allowed to enter.
